Rashtriya Military Schools are English medium residential Public Schools run by the Ministry of Defence to impart quality education to the wards of defence personnel and civilians from Classes VI to XII. There are five Rashtriya Military Schools (RMS) located at Chail in the Shimla Hills of Himachal Pradesh, Ajmer and Dholpur in Rajasthan, Belgaum and Bengaluru in Karnataka. Cadets are admitted into Class VI & IX through a Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted under the aegis of the Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Army). Rashtriya Military Schools Admission 2024 – Eligibility
Eligibility date of birth for Rashtriya Military Schools 2024 Entrance Exam:
(i) Class 6 Entry. Boys & Girls aged between 10-12 years as on 31 March 2024 (born between 01 April 2012 to 31 March 2014, both days inclusive) are eligible to apply for Rashtriya Military Schools entrance exam.
(ii) Class 9 Entry. Only boys aged between 13-15 years as on 31 March 2024 (born between 01 April 2009 to 31 March 2011, both days inclusive) are eligible to apply for Rashtriya Military Schools entrance exam.
Note. Six months relaxation in upper age limit is permissible for the wards of personnel Killed in Action for admission to Class VI and Class IX respectively.

Rashtriya Military Schools Seat Reservation
All Rashtriya Military Schools have reservation of seats in categories mentioned below:-
(a) 70% of seats are reserved for the wards of serving and retired JCOs/OR those in the Army, Navy and Air Force.
(b) 30% of seats are reserved for the wards of Officers & Civilians.
(c)27%,15% and 7.5% of the seats in each category (excluding Officer Category) are reserved for OBC Non-creamy layer , SC and ST candidates respectively.
(d) A total of 50 seats (Not more than 15 in either of the school) are earmarked for wards of personal killed in action.
Rashtriya Military Schools 2024 Admission Process
As you observed in introduction, there are three stages for Rashtriya Military Schools Admission Process:
Stage 1: Written OMR sheet based Common Entrance Test
Stage 2: Interview (Only for students who qualify in written exam)
Stage 3: Medical Examination (Only for students who qualify in written exam)
Then a final merit list is prepared depending on child’s performance in Written Test, Interview & Medical Examination.
